With increasingly stringent environmental regulationsto comply with, many small utilities are facingsevere operational challenges due to lack of expertiseand resources. This article addresses these challenges byillustrating an advanced automatic water treatmenttechnology, the artificial neural network (ANN), suitable for small water utilities to deliver high-qualitydrinking water.ANN control technology has matured throughrecent research and development.
