This article introduces ozone contactor model (OCM)software developed for full-scale ozone bubble-diffusercontactor design and optimization. OCM software canbe used by utilities to optimize reactor design and operationand to demonstrate compliance with regulationsregarding pathogen and bromate control in drinkingwater. The software developed in this study simulatesfull-scale ozone bubble-diffuser contactor performancefor drinking water treatment. The OCM software can be used by engineers fordesigning ozone disinfection systems, by plant operatorsfor system operation optimization and regulatorycompliance demonstration, and by government officialsfor drinking water regulations development. The OCM software was designed to be user-friendlywith graphical user interfaces so users canperform complex simulations under various designand operating scenarios without extensive training. This article also suggests that model simulation is apromising tool for plant design and optimization, possibly beyond the ozone disinfection processespresented. Includes 26 references, table, figures.
