The proposed conversion is to provide a microfiltration (or ultrafiltration) plant and associated intake and washwater improvements. This will meet treatment requirements into the foreseeable future, be simpler to operate than the District's current plant, and be capable of treating highly turbid creek water (up to 200 NTU range). This will permit the District to divert and treat more water than it can presently. The District intends to pursue this alternative and begin by pilot testing a microfiltration process next season and then prepare an engineering report to accureately estimate costs. The report could be used to support the District's application for renewal of its water rights permit. Includes tables, figures.
