This paper reviews the following fourcritical areas of concern that need to be thoughtfully addressed in contracting for successfulimplementation of low pressure membrane systems:identification of scope of supply and contractor interface limits; requirements for component delivery and transfer;commissioning and troubleshooting activities; and, provisions in the case of defective equipment or work. These critical areas of concern are discussed using experiences from the implementation of a60 million-gallon-per-day (MGD) submerged membrane treatment system for the Racine WaterUtility located with Racine, Wisconsin.
