In this study, upgrading advanced water purification systems was studied by combiningan ozone resistant microfiltration (MF) membrane (referred to as the "ozone resistant MFmembrane" with ozone for pretreatment with a view to applying membrane filtrationtechnology to medium and large purification plants). In this system, ozone was added to the raw water and the water with ozone left wasfiltered by the ozone resistant MF membrane, to simultaneously achieve high membranefiltration flux (4 to 5m3/m2/d) and advanced water treatment. This paper discusses membrane filtration performance, treated water quality, chemical cleaning recovery of MF membranes and high membrane filtrationflux with ozonation, using a pilot plant composed of ozone, ozone resistant MF membraneand granular activated carbon (GAC). Includes 2 references, tables, figures.
