This slide presentation outlines a study on the detection of compromise in the barrier layer ofmembranes or in the membrane housing. Membrane integrity testmethods included:Direct Testsconducted on the module;Pressure-Decay Tests, Diffusive Air Flow etc.;Indirect Testsconducted on filtrate; and, Particle Counters, Particle Monitors, Turbidimetry Challenge Tests- SIM. Proposed TechnologyConcept/Characteristics included:Separable - should allow pre-concentration, improves signal/noise ratio;Identifiable/Markable, should confer specificity;Detectable at low concentrations, sensitivity. Detection methods included:Magnetic Relaxometry;T2 relaxation times;600 MHz NMR spectrometer (Varian); and,Carl-Purcell-Meiboom-Gill sequence. Includes table, figures.
