No studies have been conducted to date to directly compare log removal values(LRVs) as measured via direct integrity test (DIT) results, turbidity data, and particle counts. Therefore, knowing thatLRV assessment is of substantial importance to an increasing number of state primacy agencies,a pilot study was conducted to determine LRVs using each of these three methods on threedifferent microfiltration/ultrafiltration (MF/UF) systems (GE-Zenon, Pall, and Siemens-Memcor) over a period of severalmonths and with varying water quality. This paper discusses the results of this study, assessing both the accuracy and precision ofthe three methods, the influence of feed particulate concentrations (as applicable), and theimplications for full-scale facility permitting and design. Includes 5 references, tables, figures.
