  • Rejection of Organic Micropollutants by Clean and Fouled Nanofiltration Membranes
  • Conference Proceeding by American Water Works Association, 11/01/2009
  • Publisher: AWWA

$12.00$24.00

This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the project background, including: unintentional indirect potable reuse potential;pollution by emerging organic micropollutants PhACs, EDCs, and PCPs;adverse health/ecological consequences such ascancer, reproductive effects, and genital malformation; limitations of conventional watertreatment to eliminate micropollutants; compound specific retentionbehavior in nanofiltration/reverse osmosis (NF/RO) applications; and, retention behavior influenced bymodified membrane properties due to fouling. Four methodologies are presented, and results and discussion include: membrane characterization;impact of J0/k and recovery on rejection; rejection of PhACs/EDCs by clean NFmembranes; and, rejection of PhACs/EDCs by fouled NFmembranes. Includes tables, figures.
