This study investigates potential improvements in the culturing of Helicobacter pylori by optimizing factors, such as pH, salinity, and temperature, which may affect the culture of this organism. H. pylori grew well at 37C, especially when the dilution waters and agar were from the initial 5% to 9% did not improve the growth rate. Increasing the pH from 7 to 9, increased the growth rate, while decreasing the pH to 5.5 inhibited the growth. These initial experiments will assist in improving the culturing of this difficult organism, and suggest future work is needed. Includes 15 references.
