An important part of the US Environmental Protection Agency's Groundwater Disinfection Rule is the ability to reliably assess the survival of viruses in subsurface waters. Towards achieving this objective, the goal of this study was to use a non-linear mathematical modeling technique to determine whether or not data from individual studies on viral survival in groundwaters could be combined with similar information on viral survival in surface waters to form a larger composite dataset. Seven datasets on viral survival published by different research groups, were examined statistically to determine the feasibility of combining them.
