This study was conducted to assess the impact of water treatment on biodegradable organic matter (BOM) levels and to characterize the impact of treatment changes on bacterial water quality monitored within model distribution systems. The project investigated the following: nutrient removal during conventional water treatment; the effects of biological filtration on nutrient levels entering the distribution systems; and, the effect of a decrease in nutrient concentration on bacterial water quality in model distribution systems.
