The objective of this study was to determine an overall optimum speed for the recovery of Cryptosporidium and Giardia. Recovery of oocysts was studied using three centrifugaiton speeds. Three time intervals were investigated, 5, 10 and 15 minutes as well as the age of the oocysts and the buffer composition. Both fresh (oo)cysts less than one month old, and older (oo)cysts greater than 6 months old were used in these trials. In total, one water type and 4 buffer types were compared.
