This paper describes the shape of breakthrough curves for total organic carbon (TOC) generated by the Rapid, Small-scale Column Test (RSSCT) conducted with samples for different seasons using the general logistic function. Adsorption isotherms were compared for each of the water utilities and seasonal variations were included; these were used to estimate RSSCT breakthrough behavior. The influence of biodegradation on the GAC surface during the RSSCT was also explored by attempts to control RSSCT so that only adorption was operative.
