In order to evaluate the effect of fouling, a pilot study on ultrafiltration of water from the Boise River and Boise River Ranney Collector (Boise, Idaho) was conducted. The objectives of the study were: 1) to assess the conditions under which membrane fouling occurred during ultrafiltration of these two untreated raw waters, and 2) to identify and optimize operating parameters necessary for control of ultraviolet membrane fouling during testing of the two waters.
