The performance of a hollow fiber ultrafiltration (UF) system with powdered activated carbon (PAC) pretreatment was successfully predicted with respect to removal of natural organic matter (represented by total organic carbon, TOC) and a synthetic organic chemical (represented by 2,4,6 trichlorophenol, TCP) from natural water. The modeling procedure can be used as a guideline for the design of the PAC/UF systems.
