The objectives of this study were to provide information on the removal of microbial, physical and chemical constituents in secondary wastewater effluent under in-use conditions. The specific aims of the study were to evaluate the removal of natural populations of fecal coliform, enterococci and male specific bacterial viruses in secondary sewage effluent and to determine the level of removal of suspended solids, biochemical oxygen demand, and phosphorous.
