Because the Information Collection Rule (ICR) Method for the detection of Protozoans is hampered by low and variable recovery levels for Cryptosporidium oocysts, improvements that would provide reliable, increased recovery rates are discussed in this paper. In order to evaluate how best to improve the ICR method, the method was run in its entirety with and without improvements to each phase of the process. The method was then isolated into segments and run with and without improvements. Includes reference, figures.
