Solid phase microextraction (SPME) is a convenient extraction technique for analyzing a variety of analytes in a variety of matrices. This presentation of viewgraphs demonstrates the versatility of SPME for your use in the analysis of food and flavor products. This technique extracts analytes from samples through partitioning into a coated fiber. The uniqueness of this technique is the capability to retract and expose the fiber and can be used to sample a variety of food and beverage products. The fibers can be used on both liquid and solid samples and can extract both volatile and semivolatile analytes. The minimum detection limits are comparable to other extraction methods, but with a wider linear range. Quantification is possible by using a standard addition method. Includes figures.
