This study extends the application of a new method, described previously, forthe measurement of sub-ug/L levels of inorganic halogenated disinfection byproducts, specifically bromate, found in treated drinking water. The user-friendly method, which demonstrates the analysis of bromate at a practical quantitation limit of 0.05 ug/L, utilizes an ion-chromatography (IC) system in conjunction with a post-column reaction (PCR) for enhanced detection of target oxyhalides in the presence of major ion species typically found in drinking water. Application of this method was demonstrated on a variety of waters from treatment plants in which hypochlorination was used as the mode of disinfection. Includes 7 references, tables, figures.
