The Information Collection Rule (ICR) was promulgated by the US EnvironmentalProtection Agency on May 14, 1996. The objective of this rule was to collect in-depth information regarding chemical byproducts produced as the result of disinfection (disinfection byproducts (DBPs)). The microbiological monitoring focused on Giardia and Cryptosporidium. This paper summarizes the microbiological data that characterizes the plant influents collected as part of the ICR and summarizes issues and conclusions reached from these data. Includes 2 references, tables, figures.
