As the US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) lowered the arsenic maximum contaminant level (MCL) to 10 micrograms/liter (Au/L), the utilities that aredependent on groundwater, are looking for options to bring their system in compliancebefore the stated deadline of January 23, 2006. Similar to many other utilities in theWestern United States, arsenic is a concern for the City of Peoria, Arizona. Twelve wellswere identified with elevated arsenic. This study evaluated the available non-treatmentand treatment techniques to develop strategies for bringing the City groundwater tocompliance. This paper describes the process used to develop a compliance plan for theCity of Peoria. Includes 8 references, tables, figures.
