An existing water system often suffers from poor water quality due to an excessive retention time ofwater within the distribution system and other factors. In addition, security, health, emergency, systemoperational optimization (e.g. efficiency and leak detection), maintenance, training, and other vital issuespresent major challenges to owners and operators of water distribution systems. A new real time on-linecomputer model that utilizes integrated SCADA sensor input (from very few sensors) has been developedand implemented in both Europe and the United States. This model has proven to effectively control andmanage water quality, security, and a massive amount of complex operational parameters associated withwater distribution networks of all sizes. This paper describes the software and provides reference studiesthat demonstrate the multitude of benefits available to public and private users of this product. Includes figures.
