The impacts of new CT requirements for ozone disinfection of Cryptosporidium are evaluatedusing a desktop CT disinfection analysis. The analysis is applied to the design of new andupgraded ozone systems for two water treatment plants in Virginia. The results indicate that thefeasibility of ozone disinfection of Cryptosporidium is dependent on ozone demand and decaycharacteristics of the water supply and may not be feasible for water supplies with moderate tohigh ozone decay rates. The CT analysis is a useful design procedure to evaluate the benefit-costtradeoffs of using ozone to achieve alternative disinfection goals. Includes 5 references, table, figures.
