The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of differentstrategies of tap water handling in the home on the resulting concentrations of the two mainspecies of chlorinated disinfection byproducts (DBPs): THMs and HAAs. The study focuses on the impact of tap waterstorage and refrigeration preceded by boiling or domestic filtration on concentrations ofchlorinated DBPs. The investigation is based on a protocol that considers the handling ofseveral samples of tap water collected at different moments during the summer seasonand at various locations within the distribution system.
