This slide presentation outlines a study on chlorine residuals and N-DBPs formation from monochloramination of model N-organic compounds. Results included: concentrations of total chlorine and monochloramine residualdecreased with increasing reaction time;formation of organic chloramines from glycine, methylamine, andglycylglycine were in higher quantities than that from other fivecompounds;CNCl was formed for all the N-organic compounds tested and DCANand chloropicrin was generated from some of the tested compounds;nitrogen in CNCl and DCAN was from both monochloramine andnitrogenous compounds, but the percentage of incorporation of fromthese two nitrogen sources varied among different compounds; and,pH and monochloramine to glycine ratio affected CNCl formation andsources of nitrogen. Includes 8 references, tables, figures.
