This paper demonstrates the strong possibility of negative bias with method 300.1 in multipledrinking water matrices and discusses possible causes for false bromate negatives by 300.1 andshow a number of examples. When one couples the greater sensitivity of 317 with the methodissues for 300.1, it appears that U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) should reconsider the continued blanket approval of method300.1 for bromate under the Stage 2 Disinfection/Disinfection Byproduct Regulation (DDBP) Rule. Includes 9 references, table, figures.
