The objectives of this powerpoint presentation on disinfection byproduct (DBP) analysis in chlorinated reverse osmosis (RO) concentrates included:adaptation of analytical methods for 8 priority DBPs, matrix effect;stability of the DBPs over the course of holding time experiments; effectiveness and potential application of the methods developedfor chlorinated RO concentrates; and, comparison with those used in analysis of U.S. drinking watersU.S. Nationwide Study (Weinberg et al., 2002, Krasner et al., 2006). Conclusions of the study included: DBP analyses in complex matrix achieved with high degree of QCusing standard addition or external calibration, and matrix dilution;matrix effect correlates with Kow;some DBPs undergo more rapid loss during sample preservation andholding than others;multiple DBP groups quantified in the chlorinated RO concentrates atlevels not observed in full-scale drinking water treatment; and,RO concentration permitted observation of yet additional DBPs nottargeted in this study. Includes tables, figures.
