This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the Stage 2 Disinfection Byproduct Rule (DBPR) and Total Trihalomethane (TTHM) Example, and localized treatment for DBP. Project objectives were to: evaluate effectiveness of severaltreatment processes;determine DBP reformation potential;develop model for predicting treatmenteffectiveness and reformation potential;link treatment model with hydraulic model; and, develop tools for estimating cost. Pilot testing is presented, along with air stripping, granular activated carbon/biological activated carbon (GAC/BAC), reformation ofTTHM/HAA5, modeling DBP treatment andreformation, localized treatmentevaluation model, and implementation andregulatory considerations. Presentation summary includes the following:can meet limits with blending;reformation can be modeled, but must becalibrated for each system;excel model available that summarizes allwork from the study; and, implementation and regulatoryconsiderations will be state- and location-specific. Includes tables, figures.
