This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the origins of drinking water intake contamination and the suspected source of the contamination -combined sewer overflows (CSOs) and sanitarysewer overflows (SSOs). Project objectives included performing a qualitative analysis using Cartography (ArcGIS) of sewer system and sewage outfalls, drinking water intakes, land use activities, industries, and plants. Specific objectives included: overflow characterization (number, term, frequency); identification method for the sewage outfall prioritization; and, support for prioritizing the corrective works in a view of protecting drinking water intakes. Topics presented include: overflow characterization; impacts on resource water quality; Des Prairies River study area; sewage outfall identification - index development, percent flow index, overflow index; and, identification of sampling points. The experimental plan had two phases: Phase 1 Preliminary Tests involved sampling of 10 points, evaluation of the different system background andtemporal variability and temporal monitoring of different compounds; and, Phase 2 Follow-up of Overflows of four campaigns including quantification of loadings, flow and volume of overflows. Includes figures.
