SA Water was faced with the dual problems of mixing desalinated seawater and conventionallytreated surface water at a plant with numerous operational constraints and then chlorinating theblend, which could be between 0% and 100%, to achieve the desired chlorine residuals whileminimizing customer complaints. To enable the chlorination to be effective, adequate blending ofthe two disparate waters was essential and presented a few unique challenges. Includes reference.
