The purpose of this study was to determine whether iron scales could trap or adsorb lead inhomes with galvanized plumbing, and to what extent those scales might in turn serve assources of lead at household taps. The study was conducted in three phases:Phase 1 - Evaluation of Residential Profiles;Phase 2 - Jar Tests and Iron Scales Analysis; and,Phase 3 - Pipe Loop Studies. This extended abstract has been prepared to support a poster presentation describing theresults of the study at the 2009 AWWA WQTC Conference in Seattle, WA. Included inthis paper are brief summaries of methodologies used during each phase of theinvestigation. Includes 2 references, extended abstract only.
