While this document relates to a previous version of ANSI/IESNA RP-8-83 (reaffirmed in 1993), the valuable information on a luminaire light distribution classification system is still valid in helping the designer narrow down the choice of luminaires for a given roadway lighting project. The discussion centers on the various factors which lighting designers (for new installations) and maintenance managers (for replacement luminaires) should consider when specifying roadway luminaires.
