This Practice provides a specification for purchase of a complete single-phase, continuous duty, solid-state, on-line, ferroresonant uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system for the continuous process industry.
This Practice covers requirements for design, fabrication, and inspection and testing of all parts of a continuous duty, solid-state, on-line, ferroresonant UPS system. These include rectifier/charger, inverter, static switch, manual bypass switches, transformers, panelboards, circuit breakers in enclosures, and other auxiliary devices. These components will be mounted and wired in the field to provide a complete system that allows safe maintenance and testing of individual components without interruption of power to essential loads.
The buyer will provide specific requirements for the UPS system configuration. The system configuration shall be described by a written system description and a system one-line diagram (One-Line). The appendices of this Practice contain examples of two different system configurations. Each of the example configurations may be used as is or modified as required. The one-line diagrams shown in Figure A of Appendix A and Figure B of Appendix B may be adapted in cookbook fashion to accommodate buyer-specific choices. All components shown on the example system configurations are specified in this Practice.
