Hot plate welding is one of the most reliable methods of fusing thermoplastic parts together, and a hermetic seal is easily obtained if a proper joint design and material are selected. Hot plate welding works extremely well on a wide variety of plastic materials and is often the welding process chosen for welding softer plastics such as polypropylene, polyethylene and the thermoplastic polyamides. Large parts such as automotive fuel tanks, vent ducts, liquid reservoirs and appliance tubs and agitators are excellent applications for hot welding.
