As we approach the year 2000, the plastic industry continues to grow. A significant part of this growth comes from plastic replacing other previously used materials whether it be ceramic, metal, or wood. One reason for this evolution is that plastic can be molded into complex geometries much easier than other materials. To create a final product, sometimes it is necessary to assemble several pieces. Assembling plastic parts can be accomplished through several processes such as gluing, welding, or with the use of fasteners. When plastic is assembled through gluing or welding, the parts cannot be disassembled without destroying the parts themselves.
