Though the cost of the induction coil is rather small compared to the cost of a heat treating machine, the coil is a critical component that defines essentially the process quality, reliability and the effectiveness of the whole induction heating installation. With recent improvements in efficiency and quality of power supplies, control systems and heat station components, the coils remain the least efficient and reliable elements of an installation. In the meantime the development of new materials and technologies as well as the method and programs for mathematical simulation of the induction heating process constitutes a solid basis for coil improvements.
