A FILAMENT WINDING UNIT HAS BEEN CONSTRUCTED, CONSISTING OF AN ARTICULATED PUMA-762 ROBOT, AND A MANDREL DRIVE. THE PAYOUT EYE IS MOUNTED ON THE ROBOT WRIST, AND HAS AN ADDITIONAL ROTATION POSSIBILITY TO ENABLE WINDING WITH TAPES. BOTH ROBOT AND EXTERNAL AXES ARE CONTROLLED BY A PC. THE WORKPIECE IS DESIGNED IN A CAD-SYSTEM. GEODESICAL FIBER PATHS ARE CALCULATED AND SELECTED IN SUCH A WAY THAT THE PART IS UNIFORMALLY COVERED AND HAS AN OPTIMAL STRENGTH. THE POSITIONS OF THE ROBOT WRIST AND THE EXTERNAL AXES ARE CALCULATED, SO THAT THERE OCCUR NO COLLISIONS BETWEEN MANDREL AND ROBOT.
