CONVENTIONAL RTM SYSTEMS ARE COMMONLY POWERED BY PNEUMATIC PRESSURE-BASED PUMPING SYSTEMS. THESE SYSTEMS BEGIN THE MOLD-FILL CYCLE WITH A RAPID BURST OF FLOW ENERGY AT THE INLET OF THE MOLD. IN MANY CASES, THIS CAUSES A FIBER WASH PATTERN AT THE INJECTION PORT AND AIR ENTRAPMENT THROUGHOUT THE PART. THIS PAPER EXAMINES A SYSTEM OF FILLING RTM MOLDS WITH FLOW-BASED MACHINERY THAT INITIATES THE INJECTION CYCLE WITH A METERED FLOW TO PRODUCE LESS AIR ENTRAPMENT AROUND THE FIBERS AND ADDITIONALLY EXHIBIT LESS FIBER WASHING AT THE INJECTION PORT.
