THIS PAPER DESCRIBES A RECENTLY DEVELOPED TECHNIQUE FOR ADAPTIVE PROCESS CONTROL OF ADVANCED COMPOSITES. AN EMPIRICAL, RULE-BASED, METHODOLOGY, UTILIZING NONINTRUSIVE IN-SITU SENSORS FOR COMPUTER CONTROL OF FABRICATION PROCESSES RESULTS IN THE PRODUCTION OF HIGH-QUALITY COMPOSITES IN A CONSISTENT AND REPRODUCIBLE MANNER. THE PROCESS IS OPTIMIZED BY ADJUSTING PROCESS CONDITIONS IN REAL TIME BASED UPON THE CHARACTERISTIC DIELECTRIC SIGNATURE OF THE POLYMER MATRIX AS IT UNDERGOES CHEMICAL AND PHYSICAL CHANGES DURING PROCESSING.
