Many disparate but necessary elements are included in the curriculum of undergraduate courses for students who wish to pursue a career in manufacturing. Different methods are used to integrate these elements, one method is to use casework. Ideally these caseworks should be based on problems encountered in authentic manufacturing situations. This paper chronicles the events which occurred when academia and industry collaborated on a project which endeavored to use a concurrent engineering approach to the design of a product.
