This paper describes the origin (1986) and the development of an initiative among the Politecnico di Torino and the University of Brighton, now extended to the Pole Universitaire Leonardo da Vinci, Paris; established in Torino, Brighton and Paris taking into account the increasing impact of technology in all manufacturing sectors with the necessity to face new problems of management. The school has a European size, disciplines are mainly focused on manufacturing technologies, business, informatics but also foreign languages, law, control and social science. After four years courses, the students receive two diplomas (one in each of the two chosen countries).
