For many years select automotive exhaust and engines parts have been coated with high temperature resistant paints. These silicone resin based coating products have undergone some transformation in recent years. Various substrates such as 409 stainless steel, aluminized stainless, cold rolled steel and cast iron, make custom formulating necessary for specific applications. Manufacturers expect painted parts to pass salt spray, humidity and gravelometer tests after heat exposure to 1000//deg//F and above. Despite what may seem as impossible performance requirements, coating companies have improved performance while introducing lower VOC products. These products have demonstrated easy application and thus allowed for quick adaptation into common equipment used on existing coating lines.
