If a product is to succeed in today's marketplace it must meet technical as well as economic requirements. The conflicting requirements to reduce weight, improve structural strength, increase stiffness, and lower costs have forced designers to develop more efficient vehicle structures. Tube hydroforming is one of the new tools available to aid in simultaneously reducing weight and cost while improving structural strength and rigidity. Pressure sequence hydroforming fulfills these requirements by using common materials in a more efficient manner. By reducing waste during manufacturing, eliminating weld flanges on parts, and consolidating components, hydroformed products can be more cost effective and lighter in weight.
