A yield criterion utilizing five independent material parameters for representing the yield locus was proposed by Hill in 1993. This paper describes an attempt to analyze forming limits of AK steel sheet metal based on this criterion in conjunction with the M-K approach. Comparison of the predicted results with experimental data indicates that localized necking can be characterized only to a limited extent. However, material properties do not remain constant, but are deformation history-dependent. Inclusion of deformation dependent parameters in the analysis demonstrates a significant positive influence on forming limits. Comparison of predicted results with the experimental data underscores that the consideration of history-dependent material properties can improve forming limit predictions considerably.
