IN VITRIFIED CBN WHEEL APPLICATION, ESPECIALLY IN MASS PRODUCTION, IT IS BECOMING A PROBLEM THAT IN A CERTAIN PERIOD AFTER TRUING HIGH-GRINDING POWER MAY CAUSE DEGRADATION OF GROUND SURFACE. IN THIS PAPER, THROUGH GRINDING TESTS UNDER VARIOUS TRUING AND DRESSING TREATMENTS AND SEM OBSERVATION OF WHEEL SURFACE, RELATION BETWEEN WHEEL SURFACE CHARACTERISTICS AND GRINDING PERFORMANCE IS INVESTIGATED. RESULTS INDICATE THAT IT IS POSSIBLE TO REDUCE GRINDING POWER, WITHOUT SACRIFICING THE SURFACE FINISH, BY SMALL DOC TRUING UNDER CRUSHING CONDITION AND BY FOLLOWING DRESSING TO REMOVE THE PORTIONS ON THE WHEEL SKIN DAMAGED IN TRUING.
