THIS STUDY COMPARES THE PERFORMANCE OF CBN AND DIAMOND ABRASIVES IN A RESIN BONDED WHEEL IN RECIPROCATING AND CREEP-FEED GRINDING OF THREE DIFFERENT SUPERALLOY MATERIALS. THE MATERIALS USED WERE CONVENTIONALLY CAST INCONEL 718, DIRECTIONALLY SOLIDIFIED RENE 80H AND A SINGLE CRYSTAL RENE ALLOY. TESTS WERE ALSO CONDUCTED WITH AN ELECTROPLATED CBN WHEEL IN CREEP-FEED GRINDING OF INCONEL 718 TO EXAMINE THE EFFECTS OF INCREASED WHEEL SPEED AND MATERIAL REMOVAL RATE ON WHEEL LIFE, POWER CONSUMPTION AND SURFACE FINISH. THE WEAR BEHAVIOR OF CBN AND DIAMOND IS ALSO DISCUSSED.
