WHEN THE FILM BOILING TEMPERATURE OF A GRINDING FLUID HAS BEEN EXCEEDED, THE GRINDING PROCESS IS CARRIED OUT DRY. THUS, FILM BOILING USUALLY PRESENTS A PRACTICAL LIMITATION OF THE GRINDING PROCESS. IT WAS SUSPECTED THE PRESSURE EXERTED ON THE FLUID WOULD RAISE ITS FILM BOILING TEMPERATURE AND ALLOW INCREASED PRODUCTIVITY. THE MAIN OBJECTIVE OF THESE EXPERIMENTS WERE TO MEASURE THE HYDRODYNAMIC PRESSURE AND FILM BOILING TEMPERATURE OF TWO TYPES OF FLUIDS USING TWO TYPES OF CBN GRINDING WHEELS. SOME CONCLUSIONS ARE THAT THE HYDRODYNAMIC PRESSURE IS A FUNCTION OF THE POROSITY AND VELOCITY OF THE WHEEL.
