THE USE OF NORMAL-FORCE SENSORS, COUPLED WITH OPEN- ARCHITECTURE PC'S PROVIDE A MEANS TO IMPROVE PRECISION AND PRODUCTION RATE ON INTERNAL GRINDING OPERATIONS. DEFLECTION ERRORS, CAUSED BY CHANGES IN GRINDING FORCE, ARE COMPENSATED BY CALCULATING THE DEFLECTED-POSITION OF THE INTERNAL GRINDING WHEEL AND MODIFYING THE SIZE POSITION APPROPRIATELY. THE ROUGH FEEDRATE IS REDUCED AS THE WHEEL WEARS, THEREBY PROVIDING SIGNIFICANT INCREASES IN PRODUCTIVITY, COMPARED TO FIXED FEEDRATE CYCLES.
