Surface finish technology is highly demanded in a wide spectrum of applications in industry. Orbital abrasive flow machining (orbital polishing) was developed as a combination of abrasive flow machining and orbital grinding to achieve fine polishing of a wide variety of workpiece geometries, from flat to slightly convex or concave surfaces to extremely complex three-dimensional geometry by use of a flexible grinding stone made of semi-solid media. To make the process useful for new and more demanding applications, this paper discusses the processing principle and features of the orbital polishing process by the experimental study.
