Superfinishing is an abrasive process used to achieve micro-finished surfaces, extend product life mainly by increasing the fatigue resistance, reduce the energy loss due to friction and provide the product with superior cosmetic appearance. This paper compares the basic performance of one of the most promising superabrasive CBN versus the most used conventional abrasives (aluminum oxide and silicon carbide) in the superfinishing of the ball tracks of bearing rings.
